Special Character
The Proprietors of Catholic Integrated schools and Christian parents who entrust their children to the school have the responsibility to ensure that the Special Character of the school is maintained and preserved. The Special Character of the school is defined in the Integration Act as "a Roman Catholic School in which the whole school community, through the general school programme and in its' Religious instructions and observances, exercises the right to live and teach the values of Jesus Christ. These values are as expressed in the Scriptures and in the practices, worship and doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church, as determined from time to time by the Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Christchurch."
Religious Education
This is a specific part of the curriculum and is integrated into the life of the school. Regular prayer has a vital place in the classroom, assemblies and the staff life of the school. Active participation in Church liturgies is a regular feature and the Sacramental Programme involves parents, school and parish in a meaningful way. A Family/Whanau book that assists parents with following up of Religious Education lessons is a requirement that can be purchased at the school office.
Spiritual Development
The school aims to challenge each child to develop his/her God given gifts and talents to the full. Every child is encouraged to become aware of, and to value the special uniqueness created in him/her by God. It is our task to both guide and facilitate growth in Christian attitudes and values, to lead each child to a greater awareness of the dignity of their own person and that of others, primarily through our Religious Education and Virtues Programmes which permeate all aspects of the curriculum and daily living.
Our parish priest works closely with the school, visiting classes when time allows and supporting staff in school Masses, Reconciliation and Adoration.

Buddies
Older students are buddied with young students and the buddies attend our weekly Mass together. The older students are responsible for their buddy during Mass and are expected to assist them in the development of appropriate behaviour during Mass.
